Doretha Sanders, aka "Mua" of Graham Street in Providence departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the age of 72. She was the daughter of Jean (Smalls) King and the late Issac King Jr. She was born in Halifax County, North Carolina on February 6, 1951.
Mua was passionate about life & helping others. She was a day care provider & volunteered at the head start program. She was dedicated to her family; selfless towards all she came into contact with; & was always the LIFE of the party. Doretha was preceded in death by her daughter Lucy Mae “Feet” Daniels.
She is survived by her husband Maehue Gary; mother Jean King; seven children Tony Sanders (Ada), Anthony L. Sanders, Sr. (Barbara), Kerisha Sanders (Louis), Cedric Harris (Missy), Adeana Dunston (Darnell), Troynessia Daniels, Shyneice Wright (Courtney), & Joeal Sanders. She is also survived by two sisters, Sheila King & Laura King; two brothers Larry King & Issac King Jr.; as well as over 20 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, cousins, in-laws, nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 18th from 9am until 10:30am followed by a service at 10:30am in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. Live streaming will be available. (The video stream window will appear on this page, below Doretha's obituary at 10:30am on Saturday). Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Providence.
